NEUTRAL CARBON SPORT PROGRAM

CALCULATE AND OFFSET YOUR CARBON FOOTPRINT

When you neutralize your CO2 emissions, you not only directly fight climate change, but also help the projects of Instituto Esporte pelo Planeta. Become a CHAMPION in the fight against climate change!

ATHLETE OR FAN

COMPANY or SPORTS INSTITUTION

SPORTS EVEN

Now it's easier to reduce CO2 emissions in sport!
All athletes, companies, and sports institutions can calculate their carbon footprint, and reduce and offset the carbon emissions associated with their activities, through the Carbon Neutral Sports Program.

The carbon calculator has a direct link to the website of the company Carbonext, responsible for the calculator, built from the tool of the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program. Carbonext has been operating in the Brazilian voluntary carbon market for over 10 years, managing all stages of REDD+ projects, from conception, auditing, registration, commercialization, delivery, and traceability of credits. Carbon credits are certified and audited by Verra. org, ensuring the correct registration and monitoring of protected areas.

CALCULATE, REDUCE AND COMPENSATE

To become a carbon-neutral athlete, fan, organization, or sporting event, you must understand how to neutralize:

1st step

Answer the questionnaire to get
your carbon footprint calculation

2nd

Make a plan to reduce
your emissions

3rd step

Buy carbon credits to neutralize the remaining emissions

Being Carbon Neutral means reducing your carbon emissions as much as possible and compensating for what was not possible to reduce, through the
purchase of carbon credits.

We, as athletes, are role models for many children and young people, and we can choose to act decisively to combat climate change. But, we must act now,
and join our voices against the irreversible damage that has happened to our planet. Being carbon neutral is actively participating in the fight against global
warming, as we are responsible for our future and for the next generations of athletes. In addition, many companies that sponsor Brazilian sports already see
their brands linked to sustainability and carbon neutrality, which generates a synergy with athletes most engaged in climate action.

An event that has in its guidelines actions in favor of the climate, builds brand value, establishes the trust of its customers and stakeholders, increases employee involvement, and brings many other long-term benefits. In addition, by neutralizing its emissions through the purchase of carbon credits, the event attracts sponsors, prevents deforestation, preserves biodiversity, and collaborates in local sustainable development, contributing to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Carbon credits
are units of measurement that correspond, each one, to one ton of carbon dioxide (t CO2e). These measures are used to calculate the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and their possible commercialization value. The carbon credits represent the non-emission of tons of carbon to the atmosphere, being, therefore, the representation of a conservation action of the environment. A carbon credit is equivalent to a ton of CO2 that we stop emitting.

A sports company/institution that has in its guidelines actions in favor of the climate, builds brand value, establishes trust with its customers and
stakeholders, increases employee involvement, and brings many other long-term benefits. In addition, by neutralizing its emissions through the purchase of
carbon credits, the company receives benefits from the increase in the Environmental indices.
Environment, Social and Governance (ESG), ends up attracting investors, preventing deforestation, preserving biodiversity and collaborates in
local sustainable development, contributing to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“SPORTS IN BRAZIL WILL NEVER BE THE SAME AGAIN. The warming predicted for the country in the coming decades will make it more difficult to break records in a number of modalities and will often pose a risk to athletes' lives, requiring much more attention and technology for health and thermal adaptation before, during and after the pieces of evidence. Training and competitions will have to take place at restricted and alternative times, such as dawn.” Source: Climate Observatory.
