Instituto Esporte pelo Planeta was conceived by the twin sisters, Cláudia and Kátia Alencar, who throughout their sports careers had the opportunity to have
direct contact with nature, thus creating a relationship of respect and concern for the environment. At the same time, they began to realize the seriousness of
water pollution and climate change that affected their daily lives. Daughters of a biologist, they were taught to have a keen eye on environmental issues and,
therefore, understood that it was urgent to call for climate action towards a low carbon transition.
The twins are former athletes of the Brazilian rowing and water polo team. They marked their history in sport by being the first women to represent Brazil in
international competitions such as the World Cup, World Cup, Pan-American and South American.
“The Sport for the Planet Institute emerged from our watchful eye on top of a boat, training and competing for years, which resulted in an awakening to the
exuberance of nature that surrounded us: the dawn “in the water”, the awakening of birds and small animals, the noise of the water on the paddles and the
fish that jumped on the boat. Thus, our connection with the environment and our passion for nature was born. from the EPP Institute.”
